RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES GREATER LAS VEGAS
Families are stronger when they are together and their presence helps a sick child cope better. Research even proves that while we cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatment, we can help lessen the burden and ensure families have the stability and resources to support their child’s recovery.
The mission of RMHC of Greater Las Vegas is to provide a supportive “home away from home” for families and children who are receiving inpatient or outpatient medical treatment at local hospitals. Without our House, families might have to sleep in the hospital lobby, a child’s hospital room or even in their cars, as most families cannot afford a hotel room for weeks or sometimes months – especially under the financial stress of mounting medical bills.
Since opening in July of 1998, the House has served 4,146 fmilies for a total of 49,638 nights. In 2015, the House served 443 adults and 232 children for a total of 3,592 nights. The average length of stay was 12 days, and the House saved families over $434,600 in lodging costs in 2015 (based on 2015 average nightly lodging rates in Las Vegas of $117.63).
Our House was designed specially to accommodate up to 12 families at one time, for a total of 72 family members. Each guest room includes two double beds, private bathroom, TV and telephone. Families will also find a fully stocked pantry, a non-coin operated laundry facility with detergent and fabric softener, a fun-filled game room for kids to play in, an outdoor patio area with a BBQ grill, and ample seating as well as toys and games for the kids.
When you’re here, you’re family…so we ask that you help keep the House neat and clean during your stay.
After a long, stressful day at the hospital, join us at the House for a wonderful home cooked meal provided by volunteers. Dinner is ready by 6 pm each night and is served buffet style.
Who is eligible to stay?
Any family whose pediatric child (21 years or younger) is receiving medical treatment (inpatient or outpatient) may request a room at Ronald McDonald House. All families must be referred by a doctor, nurse, social worker or other medical source who can verify patient information. Families who live 30 miles or more outside of the Greater Las Vegas area are eligible to stay.
Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House are asked to pay a $10 per night donation, but are never turned away due to an inability to pay. Families are asked to discuss any payment questions they have with the Front Office staff upon check in.
